Tie vote saves important public health program

The Health Department of Northwest Michigan does an outstanding job of protecting the overall health of the public within the counties it serves. But the eight-member Board of Health made up of two county commissioners each from Em-met, Charlevoix, Otsego and Antrim counties remains the big variable.

The board met on Tuesday, November 7, for its regular monthly meeting in Charlevoix. It was shorter than in months past and the number of citizens offering public comment dropped off considerably.
